Lil Wayne Will Not Be in Protective Custody At Rikers

Convicted rapper Lil Wayne began serving his one year prison sentence on a firearms charge yesterday at Riker’s Island. Contrary to popular belief, he will not be in protective custody where he would have been safe from roving bands of gangs that the NY prison system is famous for.

Instead, the rapper insisted that he do his time (like a man) in the general population with the thugs, murderers, pedophiles, rapists and others who probably committed some of their crimes while humming his rap tunes.

Even though defense lawyer Stacey Richman initially claimed that city officials were forcing the rapper into protective custody, it turns out he’s going into a regular cellblock. Correction Department spokesman Stephen Morello said the “Lollipop” singer will have “general population escort” status.

That means he’ll be escorted by a correction captain when outside of his housing unit – just like gang members. Inside, he’s free to socialize under the watchful eye of guards with the 17 men on his cellblock – or stay locked in his cell.

“It’s his choice,” Morello said.

He said the agency never got a request from Lil Wayne to be treated like any other inmate – and Richman conceded she never made one because she assumed it would be shot down. Source: NYDN

Can you tell she’s a Lil Wayne fan? This is the influence that rappers such as Lil Wayne have on your children. In my opinion, she went too far with the first tattoo — much less the 50th.

Celebs Out & About

Oscar winner Mo’Nique doesn’t look too thrilled after winning the best supporting actress trophy on Sunday night. The next day she was seen leaving the Oprah Winfrey Show which is taping in Los Angeles. Her husband Sidney Hicks seemed happy to hold onto her Oscar as they headed to their waiting limo. Hopefully, Oprah asked Mo if her husband was bisexual and if that’s the reason their marriage is so wide open. And why is it we never see any pics of their twins?

Dan Rather: ‘Obama Couldn’t Even Sell Watermelons’

Former network news anchor man Dan Rather was a guest on the Chris Matthews Show yesterday. The MSNBC anchor cut Rather off when he used a very bad analogy to get his point across about U.S. President Barack Obama failing to get his health care bill passed.

Rather said, “But he couldn’t sell watermelons if uh, you gave him the state troopers to flag down the traffic.” Links to this video have already been taken down on YouTube as quickly as they go up.

Is Dan Rather racist or simply used bad judgment (and poor choice of words) because he’s fed up with Obama’s leadership?

The Comeback Of The Year?

Earlier today, Atlantic Records set up a conference call for the nation’s top DJs to listen to T.I.’s comeback track, aptly titled “I’m Back.” Reviews are mixed, but I love it! What do you think?

By the way, T.I.’s official welcome home party is set for the end of this month. He’s on home confinement and then he will officially be released from government custody on March 26. Keep it here for more details on T.I.’s big weekend here in the ATL.

Lil Wayne Sentenced (Finally) *UPDATED*

Rapper Lil Wayne was finally sentenced in a Manhattan courtroom after his sentencing hearing was postponed twice. Weezy will spend a year in the City jail, rather than Riker’s Island. According to online reports, Lil Wayne is serving his time at Riker’s Island. As you know, Wayne gathered his brood and his harem in NYC last week for one last going away party. But according to a source, Sarah B wasn’t among them.

“[Lil Wayne] doesn’t really f*ck with her like that,” said the source, indicating that Sarah might be his only baby mama who isn’t excited to be part of the harem though she gets along with the other baby mamas. The insider added that Sarah is “really trying hard to be a celebrity stylist.” Maybe Sarah will eventually put out her own clothing line? Who knows. Crazier things have happened.

Rapper Lil Wayne has been sentenced to a year in jail after pleading guilty in a New York City gun case.
The Grammy Award-winner was taken away in handcuffs to start serving his term immediately after his sentencing.
He pleaded guilty in October to attempted criminal possession of a weapon and admitted having a loaded gun on his tour bus in 2007.

He will serve his sentence in city jails, not a state prison, and could be released in about eight months with good behavior.

Wayne’s attorney will ask the courts to place her client in protective custody due to threats from NY Crips and for health reasons following expensive dental surgery.

Obama Infuriates American Entrepreneurs With Muslim Conference

Just 16 months ago, millions of Americans cheered and cried tears of joy when Barack Obama was elected the first black president of the United States. Today, there isn’t much to cheer about as 15 million Americans are out of work, and the unemployment rate continues to climb.

According to Breitbart.com, the White House on Friday announced a “summit on entrepreneurship” to build economic ties with the Islamic world, part of President Barack Obama’s outreach to Muslims.

The White House said it has invited participants from more than 40 countries to the conference that is set for April 26-27.

“The summit will highlight the role entrepreneurship can play in addressing common challenges while building partnerships that will lead to greater opportunity abroad and at home,” White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said.

Predictably Americans, some who lost their businesses in an unrelenting recession, exploded with rage in the comments section. rangerrebew writes:

It kind of makes me wonder why he’s so hard on American business?! He wants to help [muslims] but wants to tax American business into bankruptcy?! What am I missing?

Most readers questioned how much the conference would cost taxpayers (millions), and almost all wondered about the point of the conference when so many Americans are out of work.

Can you blame them? Here is a man with absolutely no business experience holding a conference on entrepreneurship to teach muslims how to run their own businesses in another country. Does anyone see the irony in that? What about the American entrepreneurs who helped vote obama into office because they believed that he wouldn’t tax them into oblivion?

At 9.7%, the unemployment rate is still at an all-time high, but Obama wants to teach muslims to earn more money even though they make up less than 1% of the total population of the United States.
