PICS: AG Entertainment Took Over the ATL This Past Weekend

This past weekend, the city of Atlanta’s nightclub scene belonged to one man: Alex Gidewon of AG Entertainment Group, pictured above with rapper Busta Rhymes at compound on Saturday night.
This past weekend can be summed in 4 words: he shut it down!
AG, as he’s known to close friends and family, spent over $200K bringing the industry’s biggest artists to host parties at four nightclubs in Atlanta.

Sean “Puffy” Combs Launches The Love Movement Blog

Rap mogul Sean “puffy” Combs launched a new blog project today called DiddyBlog. According to a press release, Puffy intends to use his DiddyBlog to spread 100% positivity and love because he’s tired of all the negative blogs out there talking bad about him. The Love Movement is Sean’s online forum for viewers to join and share their inspirational, positive stories.
“Down with hate,” he says in a video posted on the blog. “Today we start the love movement. Stop talking about what you don’t like about somebody and what somebody did wrong. Start talking about what you love about somebody… today is the day we start the love movement… the love movement has begun!”
Sean, who is one of the most notorious narcissists in the business, promises not to use the blog as yet another self-promotional vehicle, but we know he’s lying. He’s only saying that because his marketing team has done their research and they know that a 100% positive blog is a guaranteed failure.
We know that if Diddy blog takes off and starts garnering millions of hits a day, Sean will most likely convert it to shameless self-promotion — or he wouldn’t have named it the DIDDY BLOG.
When Twitter Goes Horribly Wrong: Matt Barnes Goes Awf

I guess NBA bench warmer Matt Barnes felt some kind of way about how his manhood was crushed on the Basketball Wives Reunion last night. In case you aren’t familiar with him, Barnes is engaged to BW cast member Gloria Govan, who, according to Hello Beautiful, continuously brags about their “perfect” union.
My regular readers know that when a woman brags too much about her perfect man, she’s actually trying to convince herself because she knows the truth is the exact opposite of her life. Remember that insecure women are attracted to insecure men because they think they can change him.

In the video below, at 3:09, Gloria says, “I just want women to know that you can respect yourself and be in a healthy relationship at the same time. And you don’t have to put up with infidelity.”

Who Watched the ‘Basketball Wives’ Reunion Last Night?

In case you missed the Basketball Wives Reunion on VH1 last night, Suzie Ketcham threw a bowl of water on NBA groupie Sandra and then ran backstage like a coward. I don’t condone violence, but I kind of wish that Suzie had stayed put and gone toe to toe with Sandra.
An argument could be made that the show’s producers knew what Suzie was up to — and they probably provided the bowl and the water to get spark drama during the rather boring reunion?
CNN: Can Condoms With ‘Teeth’ Fight Rape?

A white South African doctor has developed a new condom to fight rape that plagues African women, according to CNN.com.
Dr. Sonnet Ehlers invented the Rape aXe ‘condom with teeth’ 40 years after treating a rape victim who told her, “If only I had teeth down there.”
She said she consulted with “engineers, gynecologists and psychologists” to help make sure the design was safe and would not subject victims to HIV or other STDs.
Dr. Ehlers is distributing the female condoms in the various South African cities where the World Cup soccer games are taking place.
The woman inserts the latex condom like a tampon. Jagged rows of teeth-like hooks line its inside and attach on a man’s penis during penetration, Ehlers said.
Once it lodges, only a doctor can remove it — a procedure Ehlers hopes will be done with authorities on standby to make an arrest.
“It hurts, he cannot pee and walk when it’s on,” she said. “If he tries to remove it, it will clasp even tighter… however, it doesn’t break the skin, and there’s no danger of fluid exposure.” Read More…
South Africa has one of the highest rape rates in the world, according to Human Rights Watch. Critics call Dr. Ehlers’ device “medieval” and they say it causes psychological trauma and puts women at risk for more violence from the entrapped rapist.
But Dr. Ehlers counters those claims with words of wisdom:
“Yes, my device may be a medieval, but it’s for a medieval deed that has been around for decades,” she said. “I believe something’s got to be done … and this will make some men rethink before they assault a woman.”
Business Women: Dawn “Dawnie B” Baxter

Last week I posted photos from the star-studded birthday party of a NY socialite named “Dawnie B.” In my post I asked the question: I wonder who she is? The answer came from a loyal reader in the form of a wedding notice posted in the NY Times newspaper. Excerpts from that notice are posted below:
Dawn Camille Baxter and Derrin Arthur Woodhouse were married Saturday evening at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Englewood, N.J. The Rev. Robert L. Shearer, the priest-in-charge of the church, performed the ceremony, with the Rev. Charles L. Fischer III, another Episcopal priest, participating.
The bride, 34, will continue to use her name professionally. She works in New York as a manager in the entertainment marketing department of Nike of Portland, Ore. She handles the company’s collaborations with performers and books acts for Nike advertisements and events. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania.
The bridegroom, 37, works in Manhattan as the director of consumer marketing at Vevo, an online music site owned by the Universal Music Group. He helps produce special events for the site’s advertisers.
The couple were introduced by a mutual friend who had invited them to a Jets preseason game at the Meadowlands in the spring of 2002. The friend asked Ms. Baxter to give Mr. Woodhouse a lift to and from the game because they both lived in Harlem.
The two quickly rubbed each other the wrong way. Read More…
Celebs Out & About: Lauryn Hill, Kanye West, Halle Berry, Jai Jai

Singer Lauryn Hill channeled Oprah Winfrey at the 2010 Harmony Music Festival in Santa Rosa, California over the weekend. The ex-Fugee singer showed off a new, natural hairdo that probably signals some new direction she’s taking in her troubled life. Lauryn once grew dreadlocks during her ganja smoking, rastafari days. Lately she’s been rocking an unkempt afro.

Disgraced rapper/producer Kanye West was spotted outside Bar Pitti after dining with friends in New York City on Friday (june 18). Kanye has agreed to perform during the upcoming BET Awards show since no other awards show will have him.
