This makeover isn’t for me but hopefully you will accept my request to do the makeover for my aunt. Her name is Wendy and she is one of my best friends. Over the past 2 years she has gotten laid off and had a new baby who is one now (she also has two older children). She inspires me with her persistence in trying to find a job of some sort, but you never see her sweat even though I know she is going through a personal struggle. I occasionally do her hair (nowhere near a hair stylist) because she doesn’t have the money and her guy pays the necessary bills so they can have a roof over their heads. She is down to earth, shy, and good people. This will make her day if she can just get pampered and feel like a refreshed woman.

I think I deserve to win the makeover simply, I’ve worked hard and although I’ve been in Atlanta for a year and a half, I still have not gotten out to enjoy the city, meet new people and just simply “live my life.”
I feel with a makeover, I can start new with everything since I’ve literally been on the go since my move from Charlotte on 4/9/11. I feel it would give me the confidence boost I need for me to be more social, for me to really exceed in my work life and for me to advance on projects I’ve been working on.
I have a different type of look and I was not always the most confident in my look (I look black and Asian) and I just want to get my confidence back to where it needs to be for success! And getting a makeover from such professionals would bring me happiness I can’t put in words.

I believe that I should receive a total makeover by the talented and very stylish Derrick J because I had lost myself in a world of taking care of everyone else before I take care of me. My priority is my family and making sure they are okay.
For a long time I told myself that it’s because women are naturally nurturing, but the truth of the matter is I had low self esteem. I have finally come to the realization and belief that a strong confident woman puts herself first and then after she is sure that she is taking care of herself, she knows she has the energy to give others. You have to keep your spirit strong and alive to have a happy life. I gave too much to others and too little to myself. For a minute, I felt used, unappreciated and resentful.
I appreciate all the things that have come into my life and, as long as I’m alive, I have the responsibility for being the steward of these things and taking good care of them. Beautiful things don’t come and remain in our lives unless we feel we deserve them, are grateful for them, and appreciative of their existence.
Although my attitude about myself has changed, my look has not caught up yet. I would be so grateful to receive the makeover because it would give me that last boost of confidence that I need. To look and feel beautiful would be a dream come true. Achieving that goal at the hands of Derek J would the Good Lord blessing me one more time.

I believe that I should win Derek J’s TOTAL Makeover because I have overcome a lot of obstacles and adversities. Within the past year, like many, I have joined the single mother’s club. My boyfriend at the time broke up with me while I was 6 Months pregnant because he just “wasn’t feeling it anymore” (whatever that means). I had to go through a pivotal moment in my life by myself and it allowed me to take the focus off what went wrong and more on how can I better myself for my son. I had many nights where I cried and cried because I was in a place of confusion. Searching for oneself is a difficult task while dealing with the emotional turbulences of being a soon-to-be mom. As I was nearing my due date, my doctor had to place me on bed rest for stress, excessive weight gained (I’d gained 10lbs in 2 weeks), and preeclampsia (high blood pressure). I was also told I would have to be induced because of these factors. During my delivery I had problems dilating because my son’s umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck and right shoulder. He wanted to come on out but he was all tangled up, therefore I had to have an emergency C-Section. By the grace of God I was able to deliver a healthy 7lb 22oz baby boy, Michael Braylen Williams. He brings so much joy and happiness to my life that I can do nothing but thank God for being with me along this entire process. I work hard every day to provide for him and I plan to teach him what it is like to treat a lady. I know I can’t teach him how to be a man, but I have an excellent father who will help instill those fundamental traits in him. I pray over my son every night and I thank God every morning for my son. While being a single mom and making my son my number one priority, I haven’t been able to pamper myself. I love being mother/father to my son, but it will just bring so much delight to my life if given this opportunity. I will be a great representation for your site, Derek J and his salon, and all the single mothers.

I just read the stories and don’t know who to choose. Is there a way that you can do a Meet and Greet for the moms that are new to the area and need a support system.Not only would the makeover benefit them but friendships would be beneficial.Nothing like moving on with your children and not having a support system. A lil champagne and a group makeover would do wonders on their self esteem and his business. That is just my opinion.

My mom just wants us to come together and be sisters like sisters are supposed to be. There’s no rivalry. She has her way of thinking and I have my way. At the time nobody was looking at the big picture, we were just consumed with what was going on.
Is there anything you regret?
I don’t regret anything, the only thing I can say is i love my sister and I want us to be more than what we are now because i know what we were long before this stuff started occurring. That’s my biggest regret outside of anything else I’ve done in this industry. I decided to take off two years from reality TV to regroup and focus on family. I had to focus on Neffe and my children and my husband, we were just recently married February 24.

I think they both aggravated each other. She was clearly very upset with what he said to her that escalated the argument. She felt some kind of way about his insults so she spat and hit on him. Not making it right or wrong for either one. But this could have been avoided on both sides. It was not his business if he did insult her about not having money. He could have either let her just get on for free or tell her to get off since he believed she could not pay her fare. And on her part, she could have just ignored him or gotten off the bus to avoid further embarrassment and both assaulting each other.
Congrats to the contest winner. You should consider opening the contest to your “loyal” commenters because as much as some clown, they are in dire need of his assistance.
