Media mogul Queen Latifah and singer/producer Nicci Gilbert have teamed up to create a new reality TV series based on the lives of successful women who got caught up and lost everything.
The new docu-series, From the Bottom Up, will follow five women who were very successful until unforeseen circumstances derailed their careers. The show will follow the women as they claw their way back to the top and redeem themselves.
From the Bottom Up stars Christine Beatty, Kimberly Smedley, Stacii Jae Johnson, Chrystale Wilson, and Sara Stokes.
Beatty is infamous for being the other woman in the life of disgraced former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. Beatty served jail time and probation after testifying against Kilpatrick, who recently lost an appeal and is serving 28 years in prison.
Wilson is best known as the bisexual stripper Ronnie who woos Lisa Raye in The Players Club. Interestingly, Wilson is a real life bisexual who continues to woo strippers.
If you live in Atlanta you may recall Johnson's spectacular fall from grace. Johnson lost her prestigious job as Mayor Kasim Reed's event coordinator when she was arrested for a DUI.
Stokes was arrested multiple times -- mainly for assaulting her husband -- following her star turn on Sean Comb's Making The Band 2.
Don't look for Gilbert to appear on the show. After enduring rude remarks from viewers and social media trolls about her looks, Gilbert prefers to stay behind the camera.
The series airs on Jan. 16, 2016 at 10 p.m. ET on Centric.
