The happy couple had front row seats to watch their home town team Los Angeles Lakers lose to the Utah Jazz at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday. Among Eddie’s fans at the Staples Center was Utah star rookie Donovan Mitchell.

LaVar Ball Lonzo Ball

LaVar Ball continues to make enemies within the L.A. Lakers organization, even as he coaches his other sons’ Lithuanian team across the pond. LaVar, who coaches his sons LiAngelo and LaMelo in Lithuania, reportedly told Lithuanian media that he will pull his son Lonzo Ball away from the Lakers (and presumably sign him to the Lithuanian team), if the Lakers don’t acquire LiAngelo and LaMelo.

Kobe Bryant Floyd Mayweather Jr

Both of NBA star Kobe Bryant‘s jerseys, #8 and #24, were retired at a ceremony during halftime of the Golden State Warrios vs Lakers game at the Staples Center on Monday. Kobe, 39, retired in 2016 after a long stellar career with the Lakers.

At the start of the 2006 NBA season, Kobe changed his jersey number from 8 to 24 (his first jersey number at Lower Merion high school in Pennsylvania).

Lonzo Ball‘s parents LaVar and Tina Ball attended their son’s 3rd game as a NBA rookie on Sunday. Tina is doing fine after suffering a stroke in February.

Sources said the Lakers rookie was not allowed to see his mother during her hospitalization because his father thought the visits would distract from his game.

As expected, the Los Angeles Lakers selected Lonzo Ball with the #2 pick in the 2017 NBA draft on Thursday. Lonzo posed on stage with NBA commissioner Adam Silver.

The 19-year-old 6’6” point guard averaged 14.6 points, 7.6 assists and 6 rebounds per game in his lone season at UCLA. He also set a single-season record with 274 assists.

L.A. Lakers star Nick Young was removed from the team’s active roster prior to the Laker’s loss to the Boston Celtics on Sunday.

Lakers Coach Byron Scott said benching Young for the past 11 games was purely a “basketball decision” and nothing to do with Young’s highly publicized personal problems off the court.
