The Brooklyn Nets signed 35-year-old bench rider Jason Collins to a 10-day contract on Sunday. According to sources, President Obama called in a favor to his good friend, minority team owner and rapper Jay Z.

Normally, this type of signing wouldn’t register a blip in the news. But Collins recently announced he is a homosexual — after dating a woman for 8 years. Now he is celebrated for his sexual proclivities — not for his subpar basketball average of 1.1 points per game.

Celebs Out & About: Floyd Mayweather Jr., Jim Jones, 50 Cent, Daphne Joy

Daphne Joy Floyd Mayweather

Prize fighter Floyd Mayweather, Jr. attended a pre-Halloween party thrown by socialite Daphne Joy, left, at the Supperclub in Los Angeles on Tuesday. Rapper 50 Cent took a plea deal in a much-publicized domestic violence case involving Daphne. He was sentenced to 3 years’ probation with 30 days’ community service. 50 Cent was charged with kicking and punching the mother-of-one and damaging property. The reason for the violence was never fully explained, but insiders whisper that Fiddy became enraged when he found out he was not the father of Daphne’s child. 50 reportedly paid generous child support and rent for a luxury condo for Daphne and her kid. Lamar Odom Got What He Wanted: Clippers Won’t Re-Sign Him

Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian

The LA Clippers have announced they will not re-sign free agent Lamar Odom to a new contract, amid rumors of drug addictions and a cheating scandal. That’s probably exactly what Odom wanted.

According to Lakers Nation blog, Odom, 33, is still holding on to the hope that his former team, the Los Angeles Lakers, will sign him to a new contract.

Odom’s life has been an emotional roller coaster ever since he was dropped by the Lakers. Odom also played briefly for the Dallas Mavericks who cut him loose after a few games in 2012. The 6′-10″ NBA forward has been living in a hotel as rumors swirl that he cheated on Khloe Kardashian with at least 2 groupies.

Shaquille O’Neal gives LeBron James a hickey for his birthday

LeBron Shaquille hickey

LeBron James celebrated his 28th birthday on December 30, and NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal gave his former teammate a late birthday gift: a hickey on his neck!

The video is all over the Internet. But I won’t post it here due to the ignorance of the video uploader.

The Miami Heat cruised to a 99-90 win over the hapless LA Lakers behind LeBron’s 39 points and 8 rebounds in last night’s game at the Staples Center in LA. The win wrapped up the Heat’s six-game road trip on Dwayne Wade’s birthday. He turned 31 Thursday.

On January 16, LeBron became the youngest NBA player to reach 20,000 points in his career in a win over the Golden State Warriors.
