Rihanna was Jay Z’s unofficial date at the Spirit of Life Awards dinner honoring Doug Morris in Santa Monica last night.

Rapper Jay Z was the entertainment at the Grand Reopening of LA’s Palladium last night. They probably didn’t have to pay the old geezer a whole lot to perform. Any chance he gets to bask in the spotlight — he’s on it. Jay Z was joined by a host of celebrities including DJ AM, who performed his first paid gig since surviving that horrific plane crash last month. And, no, Beyonce wasn’t there.

Actress Sanaa Lathan is so hot that I’m willing to excuse the fact that she showed up at the Palladium wearing a red silk bathrobe.

DJ AM backed up Jay Z on the turntables.

Rihanna has gotten to be just plain old one of the girls dressed up for the night type of chick. Nothing special and I hear she was doing some hollaring also at this thing, Scandra get a copy of that please. I know she played it safe and sang a song that required her to stand in place.
