1st week sales figures for rap mogul T.I. Harris’ 9th studio album, Paperwork (Grand Hustle/Columbia Records), beat estimated projections.
80,000 in 1st week sales may not seem like a lot for an artist of T.I.’s status, but when you consider that NO artist went platinum in 2014 until this week, 80,000 is pretty good!
From Miss Info:
The first-week numbers are in for T.I.’s Paperwork: The Motion Picture and Logic’s Under Pressure, which both hit shelves last Tuesday (October 21). Tip’s ninth solo album came out on top, debuting at No. 2 with first-week sales of 80,000. However, Logic wasn’t far behind as his Def Jam debut moved a respectable 73,000 units, which was enough to claim the No. 4 spot. Both albums topped their shared projections of 65-70k.
In other news, 2014 is about to see its first platinum album of the year as Taylor Swift’s 1989 is on track to sell at least a million copies over the next week, according to Billboard. Yes, it’s Taylor Swift, but at least 2014 won’t go down as the first year in modern history without a platinum-selling album.
