Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs are engaged

That mournful sound you hear is the collective wailing of teenagers all around the world reacting to the news that Twilight star Robert Pattinson popped the question to his girlfriend, British alternative singer FKA twigs.

Page Six reports that rap producer T-Pain let slip during an interview that the couple was engaged.

When asked to name his musical inspirations in an interview with Vulture published Wednesday, the “Buy You a Drink” singer said, “FKA Twigs, she’s one of my favorite artists right now.”

But when interviewer Dee Lockett asked if the British songstress would make an appearance on T-Pain’s new album, the Auto-Tune enthusiast volunteered a lot more information than expected.

“Well, the first time we even met each other, we met in the studio. Her music’s changed a lot since then. But she’s on tour so much, and anytime I call her, she’s in a different place. And she’s engaged now, so that’s about to be a whole other thing,” he said.

“Wait. She’s engaged?” Lockett asked.

“Yeah, to ol’ Patty [Robert Pattinson]. I don’t know if she wanted anybody to know that …” T-Pain responded.

      @afiya,
      I have no sympathy for those teachers. black kids got enough strikes as it is...and they're own people entrusted to prepare them intellectually for higher education intentionally and thoughtlessly failed them.

      this shyt:
      Investigators said the educators worked together, sometimes holding erasure parties or dinners, sometimes working alone, to correct answers on the Criterion-Referenced Competency Test.

      and this:

      no sympathy or fukks to give from me. education will take you farther in this world than anything else and I bet those same educators would be screaming "off with their heads" if their own kids were the victims of this kinda shyt.

      Sandra we were talking about this yesterday and it's a shame they convicting those teachers caused they did as they were told. Now many of them should've shut their mouths initially cause there was no real proof just circumstances evidence. However I understood where they were coming from cause if you keep taking money from specific schools yearly and expecting them to produce results with less resources, things like this occur. Plus Fulton County -APS specifically were the only ones paying their teachers almost double what teachers in other counties we're making

      I didn't watch the video but I have been following this trial. I don't care what you were told to do...those were innocent children whose lives are permanently affected by the actions of those teachers. I woulda been the whistleblower from hell rather than go along with changing test scores...had them kids and their parents believing they were on or above grade level in core curriculum (English, Math, Science) when they really weren't!

      when one of the mothers asked how could it be that her daughter scored so well on the CRCT but had been failing throughout the year, she was told that her child was "exceptional" and a "great test taker". FOH!! turns out she was one of the parents who kept complaining to the principal, school board, etc. until they finally started investigating. then, when a teacher or faculty member would resist being a part of changing the scores, they were low key bullied by senior faculty and other teachers who were a part of the cheating ring. Hell naw!! Right is right and wrong is wrong. Some professions go beyond just being a 9-5 pushing paper. Doctors, nurses, and teachers - just to name a few - require a deep dedication to helping others beyond just getting a paycheck. you really gotta care about what you're doing cuz you're having a profound and direct affect on individual lives. teachers lay the educational foundation that will affect your entire life. mastering the fundamentals of reading, writing and 'rithmetic (as the ol' folks say) can't be marginalized.

      we pound into our kids heads to do the right thing, be honest, have integrity, don't be a follower, don't do this or that cuz everybody else is doing it, etc. yet these muhfukkas wanna use "I did what I was told" as their excuse for fukkin up those innocent kids' lives. FOH!

      Let me say this, I HATE standardized tests. I don't think that's the best way to way to quantitate (best word I could think of at 8am) how kids learn. There are kids with 4.7 GPAs who can't even get a good SAT score. More schools are starting to focus on GPAs and other things. Now what these teachers did was horrible, but to charge them under the RICO act? Come on.

    • http://youtu.be/7fSfM0vk0qk Hair Lova Formerly Known As Dark Ceaser

      Good morning!!!!!

    • kamadiva

      I think the verdict was just, maybe not under RICO, but if you facilitated, participated, instructed, held parties, to change these scores, you are guilty. Most of the ones convicted were administrators, only about 1-2 actual teachers. All other teachers took plea deals. Beverly Hall got off easy...she died: :sideeye: That is who should have gone to jail (since we know all change/direction comes from the top).

      Now, since they are not HARD CORE Criminals or were previous felons, I think the Judge was wrong for not granting bail! Hell, Apollo was granted bail and he was a repeat offender. I :pray: that their sentencing isn't as harsh.

    • kamadiva

      Morning :hi: I think everyone that already commented on the teaching scandal had valid points 1) why no bail? 2) they should have known better 3) a lot of times standardized test are unfair as they typically do not even cover what is taught in school. Especially not in lower income communities. How you can you make a standardized test for unequal eduational systems???

    • kamadiva

      Nope...don't think they would have been charged with Racketeering...

    • whitty hutton

      I don't think they should get prison time, but I do think the verdict itself is just. the judge has the option of giving probation, but he may use them to set an example.

      @zoe
      but that's just it. the kids were not doing well throughout the year but were being passed to the next grade based on passing CRCT scores. I agree with you that standardized tests should not be the sole measure to determine pass/fail, but for these kids it was and that's what makes it so bad imo. they were passed to the next grade level based on the false test scores.

      @puppylove
      my opinion isn't based on the race of the teachers, but the race of the kids (mostly, if not all Black) is what really upsets me. Our kids have enough strikes against 'em already, and while we can protest the killing of unarmed Black men, I actually saw signs saying "I support the APS teachers" in my neighborhood! what message does supporting those teachers in their wrongdoing send to the kids who were affected??

    • CaliYoruba

      @KAM right :yes: You can admit there they were wrong in their actions and at the same time concede that the charges or application of the laws were unreasonable. I think a lot of the time people lose sight of that. For example the willful vilification of black youths murdered by law enforcement. The media and even their own loved ones are quick to use well he got into trouble in the past with stealing. Or he did smoke weed. Ok. What does that have to do with him being murdered folks?? Stick the subject at hand. A lot of times people on trial cannot have previous convictions, actions or heresay brought up. And yet people are so quick to allow the victim to be demolished unfairly. Folks need to say :stop: I will not allow you murder my child again with this witch hunt and stop it there. Sorry I know I was going right and went left. It was just on my mind :oops:

    • whitty hutton

      I'm on the fence about whether or not the RICO statute would have been applied if it were white teachers. again, i am speaking strictly from the standpoint of the affects to the children. these teachers were having "cheating dinners" where they would get together over dinner and change test scores. I think that's where the organized crime aspect of it comes in. in addition to the get togethers, the fact that they would blackball and threaten teachers who would not participate only aggravated the situation.

      @whitty

      I agree with you. It clearly became a culture and way of life for these teachers to only have one focus, which caused them to lose integrity in their jobs. I don't think they should go to jail, I think probation is fair for their offense. But I don't have any sympathy for them. Their actions were deplorable and like you said, many of them view these low income children as just numbers and don't actually care about their well being...it's sad and unfortunate all around.

    • whitty hutton

      these are excerpts from an article about the scandal:

      Investigators said the educators worked together, sometimes holding erasure parties or dinners, sometimes working alone, to correct answers on the Criterion-Referenced Competency Test. The cheating robbed students, who were passed up to the next grade without being prepared to succeed, and caused the schools to miss out on grants that could have provided tutoring or other help for those who were failing.

      The investigation revealed student test sheets that had inordinate numbers of erasures changed to correct answers. One expert testified that the odds that students in one classroom would have so many wrong-to-right erasures without some kind of intervention was one in 284 septillion, 284 followed by 21 zeros.

      The scandal, one of the most notorious to strike a U.S. school district, was uncovered by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in 2008, when it found improbably improved scores on on the tests. After a number of newspapers articles, the governor called for a special investigation, in spite of protestations and coverups by Atlanta school leaders including Hall. She was not tried, as she was suffering from breast cancer. Hall died March 2, her attorneys still claiming her innocence.

      The governor’s 413-page investigation report, released in July 2011, detailed a system that had a wonderful goal in mind – to improve student performance and learning in even the poorest schools in the district, with no excuses accepted for failure. But it was derailed by the way it was set up.

      Hall set rigorous accountability measures, stronger than federal objectives of the No Child Left Behind law, and demanded ever increasing test scores. As yearly scores improved, she garnered state and national accolades, but the governor’s report says teachers suffered under the unrealistic goals, and the system was made ripe for cheating by severe consequences meted out for failure, including firings, demotions and public humiliation.

      As allegations of cheating began popping up the administration failed to recognize or seriously investigate them and instead retaliated against those who were reporting the problems.

      @Waste...some of the girls in our youth programs were saying that their mothers opted them out of the testing. I don't understand why though...do you know why some NJ parents are against it. We had to take the tests in AL, so I don't know what the issue is. I even had to take a test to get my diploma..so I'm confused for why there is an issue.

      DTTS- two dudes were killed. One was missing. A truck they were with had heroin hidden in cherry sauce. They went to one of the dead dudes house, found the missing dude wallet with Voight old card in it. So Halstead being disrespectful AS USUAL. So he finds a location where the heroin is. He takes Lindsey, Ruzek, and Hawkins. Some kids come out, they take them back in. The boys done had started a fire and everyone trapped. They get out. Halstead didn't tell Voight they were going out.

      Anyways, the cRd belonged to an old CI informant from back in the day. The son ended up being shot, Halstead brothers perform surgery, the Mexicans roll up in the house. Halstead and Voight kill them. Voight takes them to Canada and give them a brick of money.

      In the meantime the little girl at the dead girl house had to come to the station. No family. Aunt came to pick her up high as a kite. sargant fusses her out, then has her locked up when she goes outside to her car.

      The ex hooker who works upstairs went on a ride along, she stopped a burglary by stealing the cup car

      Hall set rigorous accountability measures, stronger than federal objectives of the No Child Left Behind law, and demanded ever increasing test scores.
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      This right here for me is why I think Beverly Hall should have been charged as well!
    • whitty hutton
      @timewaster
      it's the same here...bonuses and employability are all a part of the standardized test scores. but like i said, i woulda have been the whistleblower from hell if they threatened to fire me if i didn't go along with changing those scores. fukk that! those early years of learning how to write, spell, read, add and subtract are the FOUNDATION of your education and that is not to be diddled with for any reason. their sole defense was, "I did what I was told"...no personal accountability or deep remorse for what they did. girl, i'll take somebody's head slap off about a child and it ain't gotta be mine.
      i tutor at the boys and girls club sometimes, and for most of the kids that is all the support outside of the school they get. mommas and daddies (if they're around) ain't got time, aren't intellectually capable, or just don't want to support their children at home with homework help, reading aloud, spelling, etc. so it's something very close to my heart. but I'm sure yall can tell that by my long and incessant posts on the topic. sorry if i'm :deadhorse: at this point but i gotta get it out.
      @ Bama
      I had to take it too.
      We took once a year for 2 or 3 days.
      It had to do what measuring us as students, now the test also determines if a teacher keeps his or her job. So they teach for the test from 3rd grade on it is twice a year for at least 3 days. The pressure on the teacher is being passed down to the students.
      The graduating test is the HSPT, High School Proficiency; you can't opt out of that.
      I'm on the fence, there should be a better way to evaluate these teachers, teaching abilities also why you are teaching to the test, what is my child not being taught and would need.
      September will be my sons first year in school; I'm getting my education now
      Let me say this, I HATE standardized tests. I don’t think that’s the best way to way to quantitate (best word I could think of at 8am) how kids learn. There are kids with 4.7 GPAs who can’t even get a good SAT score. More schools are starting to focus on GPAs and other things. Now what these teachers did was horrible, but to charge them under the RICO act? Come on.
      Thanks, it was a gradual process at first but then it was a rapid deterioration by the time everyone knew what he was dealing with. Started first with him forgetting to handle things. He was letting insurance policies lapse, and not remembering opening up certain lines of credit. But what I learned when he was dying is that Alzheimer's deals with misconceptions of time, like sometimes he would think he was back serving time in the Korean War and he'd just want to fold towels for hours. Dementia is more physiological and motor skills associated, which means he could be in pain and not even realize it because his mind isn't telling him what's wrong. He would also be looking for stuff that wasn't lost or there. When he finally got taken into the ER he had a myriad of things wrong with him but never said anything about how he was feeling because his mind wasn't communicating with his body properly. It's a very sad process too because he forgot who my cousin was for a period of time. I would say the entire process lasted maybe 1-2 years before he passed away. Had many of his symptoms been detected earlier he may have had the help he needed to live a bit longer.
    • kamadiva
      @Bama and Waste - I agree with the teaching. Things are very different from when I went to school to when ManChile was in school and now LilDiva will be in Kindergarten this summer (not even Fall since she goes back in JULY!!)
      I have noticed with my nephews that the teaching methods were different and even CONFUSING to learn. When I would assist my nephew, I would have him work the problem out and then I would but step by step to demonstrate...though we would reach the same answer, I would explain to him how I arrived at my conclusion. Most times, it would help him to understand, opposed to just saying, the teacher said work it this way.
      Additionally, other basic things I learned in school, they do not do...no Wordly Wise workbooks to assist with all those SAT words.
    • whitty hutton
      unfortunately str8up, sometimes it'll confuse them if you show them one way and at school they're learning it differently. i google the "new" way and ask the teachers directly to show me how they're teaching a concept so i can tutor it the same way they're doing it in class.
      the new math has pros and cons. some of it teaches them shortcuts that i wish i had known about in school, but on the flip side, sometimes crucial steps are skipped over that kids need to know about in order to fully understand a new concept.
    • iWasteTime
      @bama
      Yeah, I've seen the new math, chit is dumb :lol:
      @Bama & Whitty That was my concern, too, confusing them. But they understood it a lot better when I taught them my way. I know it is easy to tell someone to walk away when you aren’t the one with them or sharing a life so forgive me is I sound dismissive of your relationship. I just care about YOU and your well being. Which ultimately is about your kids too. I wish you all the best sweetie. I just want you to make sure you are in the right environment. :hugs:
      I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do. I KNOW we need some time apart to really make a decision so that's coming when the lease is up. I need some space to breathe. He does too.
      What's not being discussed in the APS debate is Buckhead. Buckhead wanted to cash in on big businesses coming to Atlanta thus inflated the productivity of APS schools to intice new corporations to Atlanta. They secured the money and pushed the by any means necessary agenda. Take it to the top, Beverly Hall took the bait, unfortunately but she was not the head of the snake.
      @MENACE Fat Guhl aka DTTS keeps eating the letters off her keyboard and it is broken now so she told me to tell you:
      Just agree with her to keep the “madness” down. At least long enough to get back and forth to the doctor for testing/diagnosis. They have good meds now (doesn’t work for all) but for some it can halt the changes in the brain. They need to see the brain scans for any possible shrinkage.
      I Rose :heart: you. Just try to remain calm because it can get a little crazy. The caregivers are the ones who need support :yes:
      IMB of course
      :phew: Even her texts messages weigh me down.
      OMG :rofl: Thank you & DTTS :hug: I've been good with her and "just listening" when she vents about my bro and aunt since "they think she's crazy" :lol: Yesterday sent me over the edge tho, but I didn't let her know. I'll be calm with her and try to ease her into seeing the doc and see what they say about the meds. Thanks yall
      @time
      yes, that's what happened to my oldest nephew in one of the earlier grades - can't remember which one exactly. he's a graduating senior now **sticks chest out cuz i'm so fukkin proud** :yahoo: i did that!!
      antyhoo, i showed him the "old" way and he came home crine the next day with a bad grade (and big red X's) all over the homework we had completed the night before. he said the teacher said the answers were right but he didn't show the work the way she had instructed them in class. i sent her an email and asked if we could talk...we did and she taught me over the phone how to do it the "new" way and even admitted she was aggravated at times with the new math too. long story short, he and i did the homework over and she replaced the old grade.
      I have a question for yall. Anybody here had a family member suffer from alzheimer’s or dementia?
      -----------------------------------------------------------------------
      Morning all :waves:
      Str8 it hits the maternal side of my family. My great grandmother and all her sisters have died from it, my grandmother has been diagnosed with dementia, my mother has early warning signs and I also do investigations with this population, so I consider myself to have quite a bit of knowledge.
      Anyways a medical MD - such as a family practitioner or internist should not be the one to give a final diagnosis of dementia. The MD is supposed to run a battery of test because there are other conditions that can give you a dementia like diagnosis. If the MD suspects dementia, then the person should be referred to a neurologist where they can get a true diagnosis. With Alzheimer's you have to be vigilant because there are a lot of functions and faculties that get affected by it. Anything specific you want to know ask away
      @Crickett
      that may be true but it still doesn't excuse what those teachers did. my own personal beliefs and desire to "do right" wouldn't have allowed me to participate in something that would hurt children, especially derailing or severely limiting their educational opportunities.
      Good morning Roses :hi:
      Catching up...
      On common core teaching strategies & standardized testing - I did not get the way they are teaching math. They started this bs last year when Dragon10 was in 3rd grade. The Common Core stuff, it made no sense to me, but Dragon10 had to learn it and was having trouble and so I had to teach myself the dumb azz strategies so I could help her. It still seems dumb as all hell to me and overly complicated but I grasp it and I can help her now. They've also switched over to PARCC testing here... :facepalm: I'll keep my diatribe short and say that from what I've seen PARCC, especially the reading tests for 4th grade, are awful and confusing. I'm worried
      On the Galaxy S6 Edge- I don't have my phone yet nor has it shipped. I'm super jealous!
      imagine if all those that participated in the cheating scandal (i think it was over 30 in total, give or take) had instead banded together and went public with the demands to change test scores if that meant making the schools appear to be better than they were. that would've stopped that ish dead in it's tracks, or at a minimum would have brought attention to the unrealistic expectations and downright bullying being used to achieve those expectations.
      them niggas went along and didn't give it a second thought. sittin up in church praising and actin all uber sanctified lookin down their nose at other black folks!! whew chile...lemme stop. see, i live over here with these no count wannabe bougie negroes and i see how they treat folks day in and day out. they're only friendly towards you if they know you, otherwise they're rolling eyes like you're scum on the bottom of their shoe.
