Actress Yara Shahidi attended ABC's Black-ish FYC event at Television Academy in Los Angeles on Wednesday. The 17-year-old was accepted to every college she applied to. Not to take anything away from Yara, but pretty much everyone is accepted to IVY League schools or prominent HBCUs. There used to be a strict criteria for admission to the top schools. But thanks to the whiny Democrats, colleges accept everyone to avoid hurting the feelings of sensitive snowflakes. The standards for admission are so low now. It won't be long before colleges stop issuing grades altogether. Everyone will graduate simply for showing up.

  • A D N

    You are very kind.

  • Well$$Well$$?

Everyone is accepted to Ivy League schools? Do you even believe the silly bull$hit you post to this blog?

  • Cricket404

I disagree, I have 2 kids in college who were at the top of their graduating class and did not get in to an Ivy League. They both were in gifted programs from Kindergarten, took AP and Honors courses and GPA's were over 4.0. It's very selective, and consider yourself lucky if you get in.

  • Mr. LeBrick James

We're being trolled. That's why we cant take some of this stuff too seriously.

  • A D N

Who are the "everyone" applicants the Ivy L Schools are just accepting in? I'm heading over to apply now LOL. Then I'm writing you SR when I get denied lol.

  • MissyJ

Folks will never learn not to take the bait... Auntie just counting the outrage clicks

  • Well$$Well$$?

I think I'm going to stick to my Instagram blogs where I get piping hot tea instead of..I don't even know how to classify this blog as anymore...

There used to be a strict criteria for admission to the top schools. But thanks to the whiny Democrats, colleges accept everyone to avoid hurting the feelings of sensitive snowflakes. The standards for admission are so low now. It won’t be long before colleges stop issuing grades altogether. Everyone will graduate simply for showing up.

Call me whinny but everyone should get an education wherever they choose if they have to pay for it

  • Mr. LeBrick James

    Outrageous comments = more anger = more comments/more clicks = more $$.
    Simple formula.

  • magical radical

How she hate on a lovely, age appropriate, college bound young woman like Yara, but stan for evil ass, civilian killing, master manipulator Trump?

  • LuLu

I couldn't get to the comment section fast enough to say exactly what you did!

  • MissyJ

Everyone looking fabulous!!! Jenifer Lewis is my spirit auntie! Loretta Divine is my spirit momma. Regina (Hall and King) and Taraji are my spirit sisters. Ion think I have any spirit brothers maybe Delroy Lindo.. couple of spirit male play cousins.

"Not to take anything away from Yara, but..."
I love when somebody says: "Not to take anything away from So-and-so"... and then they immediately begin to take away from So-and-so. Hilarious.

  • Libra80sBaby

I do agree that most celebrities get in just because of who they are. Ivy League want that Alumni money forever.

  • Ryan

Are there any facts supporting this, or just the sad rantings of an old, bitter Auntie Tom? The latter? Yes? Yes. So, so dark and sad.

  • hottlanta

Please everyone ain't tying to get into those Ivy League schools when they can get a better education elsewhere. If you are smart before you go to Harvard, you don't Harvard, Harvard needs you.

  • Mr. LeBrick James

SandraRose got accepted by ITT Tech :-)

Beautiful, smart, and talented young lady. Congratulations to her! Tracee Ellis Ross beautiful, talented, and stylish.

  • Renee26

Yara is ALWAYS dressed shaaarp! I need her stylists number....Tracee needs to stay away from orange...They could have dropped that leather jacket Marsai has on all together. The dress and everything else was working just fine; that was the wrong kind of "edge" to add

  • Ain’t Misbehavin

Yessss she has always been auntie in my mind.

  • sunni_daze

  • Roderick2011

SMR:But thanks to the whiny Democrats, colleges accept everyone to avoid hurting the feelings of sensitive snowflakes.

    Wow you haven't a clue.

Colleges accept everyone because Republicans on the state level have cut funding; therefore, colleges have to make up for the lack of funds by increasing the number of students.

  • Lucy

    I can feel the bitterness..SMH.

  • Connie

Maybe she was a wee chilly?

  • AggieMom96

Yeah a 4.0 GPA and 1550 SAT scores are so common...?

  • Soda
  • Saharabutnotdry

    Sourpuss !

  • Saharabutnotdry

    House slave mentality .

  • VanillaCaramel2shotsExpresso

That's quite a bit exaggerated , not everyone rich or poor can get into an Ivy League College but the standards are dropping . One of the colleges just had to do a mea culpa because they accidentally sent everybody an acceptance letter!!! They messed the hades up and had to rescind that !!! It's a honor to be accepted even if you choose not to go . Now many state funded schools do accept everybody that applies but you may have to pay more if your SAT scores stink . I know I tell the kids everyday I work with in school. Then they look for athletic scholarships or some type of school scholarship or funding. Only a school loan and the pell grant can get them through at that point . Then they owe thousands for years on end.

  • Saharabutnotdry

    Don journal .

  • Saharabutnotdry

She needs those Louis backpacks or whatever that ghetto shid is called.

  • VanillaCaramel2shotsExpresso

Exactly my sentiment. A lot of kids can't spell using spellcheck . Let alone understand the meaning and correct use of a word . That's just one portion of the test !

  • klwbaby

Sounds like someone is upset because their application to ICDC college was rejected.....

  • ???TheRider???

Marsai is so adorable to me. I love her character on Blackish!

    Diane: Charlie......
    Charlie: Diane.....runs and hides!

  • T Kenny

anthony anderson got his teeth fixed why does he still smile like that?

  • hottlanta

Delroy is PHUNE. I first saw him in Malcolm X. I said who is that UMP. UMP. UMP. Old skool phune. After looking at TI, Lil Jon and Lil Wayne all day it is a luxury to look at him.

  • kekeb

    Yara is so beautiful

  • AggieMom96

Chile I work with college graduates that can barely format a formal letter to a client. One just inserted something into an envelope- I was like umm you need a cover letter. Then I had to say ummm that needs to be on letterhead. Then Jesus had to help me cause the 25 year old had to be prompted to actually SIGN said letter. Smdh the struggle is real ???

  • VanillaCaramel2shotsExpresso

Kids don't learn cursive anymore that's what shocks me. Generation X can't sign their name for real . Its unbelievable they can't spell the words they use in a sentence or when I have some of them actually write not get in the computer they whine or faint . I teach every grade level , however I enjoy fourth grade the most.

  • dontgetblocked

I have to agree with auntie. That Muslim who got accepted to an Ivy League school for writing "black lives matter" 200 times. One girl got accepted to 23 top schools. Some twins and quadruplets. I think so few blacks are applying that the criteria is low. It really doesn't seem like that big of a deal anymore. It seems harder to get into local and state universities and college.

  • dontgetblocked

Athletic scholarships take too much time away their studies. It's basically a full-time job especially if it's a major sport. I'd rather take out loans and let my child concentrate on learning.

  • VanillaCaramel2shotsExpresso

They are going to take something , or try. That's why I start putting my stuff in my pockets and down in my double DD's because I'm keeping all my stuff. Your not taking nothing from me. I might not be in the mood for your mess or prayed up that day and let give you something you didn't want !!!!

  • VanillaCaramel2shotsExpresso

I feel you but the child has to make it into the college which I'm sure you understand . I'm dealing with parents and kids who didn't care to study for or try to pull their SAT scores up. They messed around in high school and have average grades. They were banking on an athletic scholarship but they needed to still have a decent SAT score at least passing ! Now they are struggling to get accepted into the college of their dream ms even though they are gifted athletes . Then there are the bright students who are competing against all the other bright students . You still have to stand out in some way and have references, volunteer work , great grades , and a high SAT score . It's still can be competive . Depending on what a students major is the choices can be very narrow and the schools are highly selective . It's a great accomplishment to get in many prestigious colleges and not to be taken lightly.

  • AggieMom96

    God bless you!

  • Michelle

Yara Shahidi is simply gorgeous. What a beautiful young lady.

  • reddfoxxy16

  • TeeTee

Wow Sandra.... Really? You can go jump a bridge for the above post and your insinuations made in it

  • Prof. Taco Juice
  • AnastasYah

How does it help your black child learning European History?4years of college equals 4 years of brainwashing.

  • Prof. Taco Juice

You mean Gen Y or ... later? I think in the late 80s or early 90s, schools got away from cursive or didn't have the sessions that kids from the 70s had. JMO.

  • tisha

She got into those schools because she worked very hard. Congratulations to this beautiful intelligent young lady. Stop the nonsense everything doesn't have to be about politics.

  • VanillaCaramel2shotsExpresso

My oldest is 26 she can write in cursive my middle school daughter is 15 and her generation did not learn in Philly or Delaware . Other states do however as I travel to conferences I hear educators, social workers , administrators talking about the changes. Everything is electronic so they are doing away with archaic writing!?!?

  • VanillaCaramel2shotsExpresso

They are my sweetkins! Not corrupted !!! Fifth graders are awesome then in the spring they get the "fever"!!! There hormones kick in and just wow!!! They don't which way to go!!! It's hard on some of them! Then the next year they are in middle school!

  • Coffee1st

    You tickle me Sandra.

  • Genia W-m

I thought Tracie was pregnant? It's been reported so many places how large her stomach is. Well not in this picture.

Also, a site like this shouldn't show a preferential political party......from always bashing Obama to calling people snowflakes it's so obvious.

  • Genia W-m

Their criteria hasn't been lowered. I know some kids from our district applied, were interviewed but didn't get in and they were excellent students--black and white. Not sure about that Muslim incident with writing 200 times. Sounds rather silly.

  • Genia W-m

They're coming from colleges that don't offer any of that. Thank goodness when I was an undergrad one of our professors in my major brought in someone who taught resume writing and how to dress for a job interview. It can't be assumed they learned it in college if no one ever offered it.

  • Hailey B

I wish you could just report the news Sandra without stuffing your conservative opinions down our throats. I used to love this blog until you started turning everything into shaming other people's beliefs and lifestyles.

  • AggieMom96

lol she's not a Conservative. Trumps a Progressive so if she spouts Breitbart she tows that line as well.
Colin Powell was probably the last true Conservative guy out there.

  • AggieMom96

You mean Trump has a degree and can barely speak above a 3rd grade level but you wanna call out smart blk kids cause your arse is dumb? Ninja gtfoh with that ish!

  • SugarFoot a.k.a Ty

    Post some here chile....

  • AggieMom96

I agree and some of it is just good manners and common sense. Dude was wearing a Corona frat shirt underneath his white button down. Like come on son you really think clients want to see the imprint of a naked chick through your shirt?
    Just sad.

  • Wolfperm

She hates on anyone who resembles her and her ancestors. It's a sickness, similar to the way her idol/mentor Drumpf hates on Obama.

  • Pamela

Yes. The swag was real in Crooklyn as well. Amazing actor.

  • Jussjess25

Tracee is perfection, the women is simply fabulous! Yara is gorgeous.. shes nas cousin as well. I agree with auntie on this one.

  • Rhyme and Reason

Plus, even for those who can meet these requirements or standards, there are simply only so many slots available for Ivy League schools, and way more people (qualified applicants) than they can even remotely accommodate!

  • Rhyme and Reason

Obviously, she's worked very hard, in conjunction with having an acting career. Yarda seems quite grounded, and I wouldn't be surprise what she does in the future! I've listened to some of her interviews and positive perspectives or opinions, and she seems poised and positioned to do great humanitarian work, along with acting, directing or producing!

We have plenty of outstanding young people that the media basically ignores, as they force-feed our society and young people shallow images, the lower denominator of pop-culture or famous people!

  • L. Thompson

That Muslim student got accepted into Stanford University, which is not an Ivy League School. Maybe his grades and SAT scores were outstanding.

  • 2brefrank

Yara is the girl! Love her and the whole cast!

  • Lisa daniels

That's cuz she is ashamed of herself.

  • Lisa daniels

    A bitter betty

  • Lisa daniels

  • Lisa daniels

She not the right complexion to be a house slave. She a field slave.

  • Lisa daniels

    Dead @ cleaning old azzes

  • Dani B.

  • Big Red

Sandy, you are such a hater...get a life. Ivy league schools have not lowered any standards for admissions, if they had maybe you could've attended.

  • Sassypants

So when daddy Bush paid for junior to get into Yale or daddy Kushner paid for Jared to get into Harvard it wasn't to appease faux conservative snowflakes? I love how you justify the Becky & Brady's with the bad grades to push a certain (white) narrative. You, like Allen West and the like will serve their purpose until you outlive your usefulness to them and they'll toss you aside. While you tap dance for attention and denigrate your own for a few crumbs, you're still considered one of those people and will never be fully accepted by them but they'll use you to support their agenda. You're the Paris Dennard of bloggers.

  • Shira Harding-James

    You different think so?

  • AggieMom96

True! And scholarships cover room and board and tuition. What about travel costs? Scholarships don't cover lifestyle expenses. Even if you get accepted it's another thing to actually get there.

  • what?why

The elite have been paying for their children to attend Ivy league college for YEARS. Friends School in DC (many President's daughters have attended) do not give grades and have had this practice for years.

  • Ryan

There are a lot of trolls in the comments too, stinking up the place with their subliminal Faux News sound bites that everyone sees through.

  • sheila

i totally agree that was totally a horrible thing to say....y not congratulate this young for even wanting to even attend college wow are u serious

  • sheila

i would have thought sandra would have seen this differently

  • Traci404

    That is not true..
You do have to qualify to get in IVY LEAGUE SCHOOLS.

  • HoneyyGoodMoneyy_

Yara is friggin gorgeous !!! ???

Sandra you need to cut the BS. Your lifestyle is financed by making fun of children and putting them down whenever you get a chance just for "clicks"? Highly disappointed at a grown woman getting paid to degrade black young adults. These new clowns that have joined your blog with their ignorant minds will be the first to abandon you when they get bored, they always get bored.

  • SandraRose

Please do a little research. Bloggers don't get paid for "clicks". That's so old skool. ?
