Actor Larenz Tate recently spoke about raising Black sons in America. Tate and his wife of 14 years, Tomasina Tate, share three sons" Myles, 14, Zander, 12, and 6-year-old Zion.
During an appearance on TV One's UNCENSORED, Tate said his acting career has given his family a luxurious lifestyle, but he and Tomasina make sure their sons know that, despite their money, life is rough for a Black man in America.

Tate said he and his wife tell their sons that Black boys are held to different standards than males who don't look like them.
"In this society, you as a young Black boy and how you are seen; you're gonna have great times, you're gonna have highs and lows," he said. "You're gonna have missteps, but understand with your missteps come consequences and your consequences are always gonna be more severe than those who don't look like you. It is what it is and we have seen that firsthand."
Tate said he doesn't want his boys to stop "living up to their full potential."
"So they understand, and I'll say don't let that reality stop you from being the best version of who you are and living up to your full potential, or feeling like you're boxed in, you can't do anything, you can’t breathe. Just understand how it goes. If you get stopped [by police], it's gonna be different for you than a kid who doesn't look like you."
Martin Lawrence and his ex-wife Shamicka Gibbs celebrated their youngest daughter Amara Trinity's 18th birthday on Thursday, Aug. 20.
Lawrence posted a video of the celebration on Instagram.com. He captioned the video:
"Celebrating my daughter Amara's 18th birthday!
My daughter @jasmin_lawrence gives an inside look at our family's celebration of the birthday girl @ponyboiiimusic [cake emoji] #happybirthday #live."
In another post, he wrote, "My baby girl is 18 today! Man, time flies. I love you, Amara!! Happy Birthday! [heart emojis] #happybirthday #prouddad."

Wendy Williams posted a birthday tribute to her son filled with keepsakes from when he was born. But the sentiments of Wendy's post wasn't well received by her Instagram followers.
The 56-year-old daytime talk show Diva honored son Kevin Hunter Jr.'s 20th birthday with an Instagram tribute featuring keepsakes she'd held onto since he was born.
"Today is my biggest day! Son Kevin & I are celebrating his 20th birthday... He's in Miami & I'm in NYC, but love never stops," she wrote in the photo caption. "If you look closely you'll see remains of 1st hair cut, my cerclage is on sneaker, like a mom... I DO have all his teeth.
"I'm not a fan of cake, but today OK... for my son? What are you doing?"
After Googling "cerclage," some of Wendy's followers expressed their disgust.
"I'm more concerned about the cerclage ... it's the stitch(es) that hold your cervix closed. Whhhhyyyyy," wrote one IG user.
Another wrote, "What in the voodoo witchcraft is all that hair."
But others were more understanding, particularly those with an only child, like Wendy.
"I don't see anything wrong with this post still have two of my sons hair from their first hair cut and baby teeth and pics," wrote an IG user.
Kevin Jr. attends college in Miami.
Question: Did you save keepsakes and mementos from when your child was born?

Keyshia and Gucci, 40, tied the knot in 2017 after dating for several years. The couple met on the set of his music video in Atlanta.
She waited for him when he served time in prison, and he rewarded her financially when he was released.
Before she was Mrs. LaFlare, Keyshia worked as a celebrity stylist on music video sets and photo shoots.
With Gucci's money, she branched out into business ventures, including her own makeup line, Ka'Oir Cosmetics.
There is some mystery surrounding her age (some say she's at least 5 years older than her stated age). That would put her in the high-risk pregnancy category.

Rapper Lil Baby claims he's not a deadbeat dad because he sets aside uncashed checks for his two minor sons.
The 25-year-old Atlanta rapper made the claims after his ex-girlfriend accused him of falling to make child support payments.
Lil Baby, real name Dominique Armani Jones, took to Instagram on Wednesday to share how he's providing for his boys, who he co-parents with ex Ayesha Little, mother of his four-year-old Jason, and girlfriend Jayda Cheaves, mom of his younger son, 18-month-old Loyal.
He captioned an Instagram photo gallery that shows him with his 2 children: "I Got Some Checcs That I I Ain't Touch They For Loyal An Jason" [sic].
The post comes days after Ayesha took to her Instagram Story to accuse the rap star of not paying their son's $10,000 school tuition fees.
"@LILBABY_1 JASON'S SCHOOL TUITION HAD AN OUTSTANDING BALANCE BEFORE THE VIRUS EVEN CAME ABOUT I HAVE EVERY EMAIL. DUE TO YOU NEVER PAYING IT THEY TOOK MY BABY OFF THE PORTALS SO HE WON'T RECEIVE ANY VIRTUAL LEARNING PROGRAMS FROM HIS SCHOOL BECAUSE THEY BASICALLY KICKED HIM OUT."
Ayesha was reportedly upset after Jayda flashed IG images of her new Birkin handbag, an expensive gift to her from Lil Baby. The high-end Hermes bags cost tens of thousands of dollars.
Lil Baby insisted he chose not to pay for his son's school due to safety concerns amid the COVID-19 pandemic. He also shaded Ayesha.
"I get the n****s you f**king ain't buying you Birkins or whatever but don't go to the Internet and act like I don't go above and beyond for my son."
In another Instagram Story, the rapper is seen braiding his son Jason's hair. The adorable video won him cool points with the ladies on Instagram.
Ciara Wilson is a new mom after giving birth to her second son, Win Harrison Wilson.
The 24-year-old "Goodies" singer and her husband, Russell Wilson, announced the new arrival via Instagram on Friday.
"Happy Birthday WIN!!! Mommy & Daddy Love You! Win Harrison Wilson 7.23.2020 8lbs 1 oz," Wilson captioned a photo of the beaming couple, with little Win, covered in vernix caseosa, resting on mum's chest.
The baby is Ciara's third child - she has a six-year-old son, named Future, from her romance with rapper Future Hendrix, and a daughter, Sienna, she shares with her husband.
The 34-year-old singer recently revealed she was taking extra precautions to protect her then-unborn child during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Explaining the safety measures she used when going for an ultrasound scan, she told British Vogue, "I wanted to be really cautious. When the image of the baby came on the screen, I FaceTimed Russ in the car so that he could see. I had a little Ziploc bag of gloves for the appointment and then I had my mask. When I went from one room to the other, I switched to a new pair of gloves."
The star says going to have a scan without her husband was particularly tough because he is such a doting dad.
"We women carry the baby, but for my husband, being in the room and listening to the heartbeat in real-time is one of his ways of connecting," she explained. "For him not to be part of that was a symbol of this time that we're living through."
Rappers Remy Ma and Papoose are expecting again. The power couple is expecting their second child after welcoming daughter Reminisce 18 months ago.

On Father's Day earlier this year, Remy shared a heartfelt tribute to her other half as she reflected on his skills as a dad, writing on Instagram:

Offset has asked a judge to give his 4-year-old daughter Kalea, his surname in his ongoing paternity case with one of his baby mamas.
The 28-year-old Sagittarius is pictured above with his wife, Cardi B, their daughter, Kulture, and his daughter, Kalea.

Lais, who is this month's Morning Glory, doesn't seem pleased to share her man with the other woman in his life, his 3-year-old daughter, who was born in September 2016.

Out of 45 photos in this set, Lais does not interact warmly with the little girl. Her body language in these photos says it all.
Few people know that the 35-year-old NBA star has a daughter from a previous relationship. The child's mother is either Leticia Busso, a real estate broker in NYC, or Kristen Ledlow, a sports reporter.

Lais and Yoakim began dating in 2018. Men are notorious for giving the cold shoulder to other men's children in new relationships. But women can also be petty when it comes to other women's kids.
Celebrity stylist Tameka Foster emailed Sandrarose.com to correct some misinformation in my post about her sons, titled "Usher recreates magazine photo shoot with his sons for Father's Day."
I incorrectly wrote:
"Usher and [Tameka] Foster have worked together to co-parent their sons. Foster moved from Atlanta to L.A. so their sons would not have to fly coast to coast for visitations with her every month."
Tameka responded, writing:
Good morning Sandra,
It's Tameka. Hey girl hey.... Thank you for posting about my boys. But the post is a bit negative and inaccurate.
Usher and I share the boys 50/50. They are with me half of the time, if not more than half. Primary custody has to do with "tie breaking" decision making re: school, religion, health, extra curricular. We agree on those things and I’m involved in the decisions. Which was never really a debate anyway. I didn’t move to visit my kids. LOL. We moved to be closer to their Dad so HE didn’t have to commute, he was already there. I’m from Cali so it’s great. I pray you’re well and staying safe.
It was not my intention to post negative or misinformation about Tameka.
Usher Raymond recreated a magazine photo shoot with his 2 sons Usher Raymond V, 12, and Naviyd Ely Raymond, 11, in a TikTok video for Father's Day.
The 41-year-old R&B crooner was awarded primary custody of the boys after a bitter court battle with ex-wife Tameka Foster in 2012.
Since then, Usher and Foster have worked together to co-parent their sons. Foster moved from Atlanta to L.A. so their sons would not have to fly coast to coast for visitations with her every month.
Usher, Shakira, Coldplay and more are set to perform during a star-studded virtual concert to highlight the impact the coronavirus has made globally.
The concert will livestream on June 27, and will feature performances by Jennifer Hudson, Justin Bieber, Quavo, Miley Cyrus, Chloe x Halle, and more.

Tiny's followers were impressed that Tiny remains faithful to her man after the well-publicized drama in their lives over the years. But he's a good provider to his blended brood.
In another post, Tiny also paid tribute to her late father, Charles "Speedy" Pope, who passed away in 2013.
"Hey good looking fella!! Happy Heavenly Father’s Day! My creator!! My twin!! Miss u dearly! #SpeedyWasTheMan ... #WhereIGetItAllFrom ... #StaightFromAuburnAve.”
Nicki Minaj has a problem that many first-time moms can empathize with. The rapper, who is expecting her first child with husband Kenny "Zoo" Petty, flaunted her swollen breasts on Instagram.
In so many words, the 37-year-old rapper asked her followers for tips on the best-fitting maternity bras.
"Oh hey if u wear a triple D cup/double E cup or bigger, what bra is actually comfortable on u? Asking for a friend," she captioned the post.
Nicki has yet to confirm the pregnancy rumors, but she has been dropping hints left and right.
She received 33,000 responses in her Instagram post from first-time moms who went through the exact "growing pains" and purchased new bras.
The best answer was: "None of them are comfortable."

Iggy Azalea finally confirmed she's a first-time mom after secretly welcoming a baby boy with fellow rapper Playboi Carti.
The "Fancy" rapper made headlines in late April when rumors surfaced that the couple welcomed a child.
The couple refused to confirm the baby news, but on Wednesday, Iggy, who turned 30 on Sunday, insisted she only stayed silent because she wanted to keep her personal life private.
In a message on her Instagram Story timeline, she writes, "I have a son. I kept waiting for the right time to say something, but it feels like the more time passes, the more I realize I'm always going to feel anxious to share news that giant with the world."
"I want to keep his life private but wanted to make it clear he is not a secret," she continues, "& I love him beyond words".
Iggy stopped short of revealing the infant's name or further details about his birth.
