Oprah Winfrey's struggling OWN Network has commissioned a new reality TV series featuring Michael Jackson's troubled sister, La Toya.
OWN's cameras will follow La Toya, 56, as she focuses on her relationship with her famous brothers and sisters in a show titled, Life With La Toya. This news comes on the heels of a very public war between Michael's daughter, Paris, 14, and her aunts and uncles who are battling for control of Michael's millions.
"I am so pleased to be working with television legend Oprah Winfrey and to be a part of the Own family. This will be one of the most exciting adventures of my life," La Toya said in a statement.

Producer Mona Scott Young took the Love & Hip Hop Atlanta cast on the road to meet the New York tastemakers.
According to loyal reader Saptosa Foster, of The 135th Street Agency, "Love & Hip Hop Atlanta" cast members Joseline, Stevie J, K.Michelle and Scrappy along with LHHATL executive producer Mona Scott Young kicked off their week in NYC at a press reception at Griffin in the Meatpacking District.
Television icon Sherman Hemsley passed away at his El Paso, Texas, home, according to TMZ. He was 74. Hemsley is best known to his generations of fans as successful upper east side dry cleaners owner George Jefferson in The Jeffersons.
Hemsley won an Emmy in 1984 for his star-turning role as the abrasive-but-lovable patriarch of the Jeffersons. Hemsley was introduced to television audiences in the 1970s as Archie Bunker's equally bigoted next door neighbor on All in the Family.
Andy Griffith, who played one of the most beloved TV characters in television history, died Tuesday at age 86.
Griffith portrayed a wise, small-town sheriff in the 1960s TV classic "The Andy Griffith Show."
Griffith's death was reported by longtime family friend Bill Friday, the former president of the University of North Carolina. Griffith died this morning at his Roanoke Island home in Dare County, Mr. Friday confirmed to WITN News.
Mr. Griffith's role as the kindhearted sheriff of fictional Mayberry, NC earned him the title of "America's Favorite Sheriff."
Griffith also produced and starred in the television series "Matlock."
Washed up rapper Soulja Boy dissolved into tears as he listened to Cissy Houston sing "Bridge Over Troubled Water" the 2012 Bet Awards in LA on Sunday. His tear-jerking moment recalled Chris Brown's Visine stunt at the 2010 BET Awards.
Many assumed that Brown was overcome with grief during his Michael Tribute at the 2010 BET Awards, but he was actually mourning the loss of his career -- just as Soulja Boy is doing now.
Soulja Boy's tearful reaction to Cissy Houston's tribute to her daughter Whitney wasn't quite as dramatic as Brown's bawling though.
Black Twitter erupted just as the first tear rolled down Soulja Boy's cheek. The jokes (and the "Thank You Based God" memes) flew fast and furiously last night. Within minutes Soulja Boy was trending worldwide on the social network.
Soulja Boy has struggled to overcome the double losses of his brother and his career this year. The years have not been kind to him since his first hit song, "Crank Dat," made him an overnight sensation.
Beyonce was not having it when word reached her ears that BET's staff planned to seat her right next to Silicone Queen Kim Kardasian at the 2012 BET Awards on Sunday.
Actually, the staff in charge of the seating arrangements for the awards was the production company hired by BET. But Beyonce is reportedly tired of Kim and her mother, Kris Jenner, using her for cheap publicity.
My well-connected source on the west coast got herself a coveted volunteer position with said production company -- and she couldn't wait to text me with the TEA!
Among my source's various duties was escorting celebrities to their seats. She told me she wasn't Bey's escort yesterday, but she was close enough to the action to overhear Beyonce telling husband Jay Z (through clenched teeth) "I am NOT sitting next to her."
Some of us wondered aloud if Love & Hip Hop Atlanta stars MiMi Faust and Stevie J really had a 2-year-old daughter. MiMi posted several pics of the adorable toddler on her Twitter page, proving that little Eva Giselle Jordan does indeed exist.
As for MiMi's tumultuous, 15-year relationship with Stevie -- MiMi is adamant: "I put my #FamilyFirst! Everything else is secondary," she wrote in the caption under the above photo on Instagram.
MiMi, who cleans celebrity homes for a living, is a strong, independent woman who doesn't rely on a man to validate her as a woman!
See MiMi and Stevie's daughter Eva after the break!
After the Miami Heat's amazing 121-106 win over the OKC Thunder in the NBA Finals Thursday night, star forward Chris Bosh set Twitter on fire with his seemingly orgasmic champagne shower celebration in the team's locker room. If you have children you might want to shield your monitor as you watch this video.
As you know, most reality shows are not what they seem to be. Producers who are hungry for fame and wealth often fake plots, and even manufacture relationships (Kanye and Kim, Evelyn and Chad), to get their shows picked up by major networks.
That's So Raven star Kyle Massey thought he was set to appear as Bristol Palin's boyfriend in her new reality show, Bristol Palin: Life's A Tripp, which premiered last night.
Kyle and his mother came up with the concept for the show starring Kyle and Sarah Palin's eldest daughter as lovers. The only problem is, the producers of Bristol's new reality show had other ideas.
The much-hyped debut season premiere of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta aired Monday night on VH1. The premiere episode was available on other blogs for at least a week, but I chose not to post it until after the network premiere.
The Love & Hip Hop NY spin off features veteran music producer Stevie J, rapper Lil Scrappy, his mother Mama Dee, baby mother Erica, and other lesser known Atlanta personalities, entrepreneur Mimi Faust, singer Karlie Redd and her boyfriend Antonio Reid (LA Reid's son), singer K.Michelle, rapper Rasheeda and her husband/manager, and singer Joseline Hernandez.
A successful urban reality show requires good acting, likable characters and believable plot lines. LHH Atlanta lacks all of that. LHH Atlanta follows the typical urban reality show pattern: arguing, drink tossing, manufactured fights, bad acting.
Produced by Mona Scott-Young, LHH Atlanta has that throw-it-at-the-wall-and-see-what-sticks feel to it.
Loyal reader Saptosa Foster of The 135th Street Agency writes:
Last night in Atlanta, Monami Entertainment - along with NFGTV, Nuvo and Cintron Energy Drink - threw a TK premiere party for VH1's highly-anticipated reality spin-off "Love & Hip Hop Atlanta."
Cast members Rasheeda, K.Michelle, Mimi Faust, Erica Dixon, Karlie Redd, Joseline Hernandez, Momma Dee, Stevie J, Lil Scrappy, Kirk Frost and executive producers Mona Scott-Young (Monami) and Stephan Marley (NFGTV) were the stars of the evening, as over 300 guests packed Frank Ski's Restaurant to preview the first episode.
According to gossip website TMZ.com, VH1 and Shaq's ex Shaunie O'Neal have axed 3 cast members of the problematic Basketball Wives reality show. If true, it can be assumed that VH1 and Shaunie found 3 new cast members -- who were recruited to be "friends" of the other cast members.
A source told TMZ that Royce Reed, left, Jennifer Williams (right) and Kesha Nichols (center) also got their walking papers -- and will be replaced next season.
TMZ claims Royce was axed because her baby daddy, Dwight Howard, got a judge to force Royce to keep his name out of her mouth. Jennifer was let go because she filed a fake lawsuit against Nia Crooks for slapping her on the show, and Kesha was just too "boring."
If this is true, the women are being fired to make room for new cast members who will breathe life into the show's falling ratings.
